Surrounded. I love painting portraits, there is something very beautiful about skin tone and the way it changes in different lights, shadows, contours and perception. I like to throw in some abstract colours but in an elegant and calculated manner to grasp the nature of the face. Elegance, femininity and soft romanticism all attempting to be captures in some portraiture work.
My portraiture piece has come a little further along 🙂 I am enjoying throwing colours about in this one and seeing how they work together. Oil painting is just so relaxing!

Today a feature was run in my local newspaper The Lincolnshire Echo about my upcoming exhibition at the Sam Scorer Gallery, Lincoln (April 2nd-14th). I was very pleased to see my work there and suggested as a great visiting point over the two weeks it will be running. My work is a sophisticated blend of purposeful elegance with chaotic overtones, depicting wildlife art and varying subjects. I’m so excited for my work to be up for my first ever solo exhibition and I welcome you all to come see it for yourself 🙂 Pieces will be for sale, and I am hoping to have prints and postcards and other commemorative merchandise for my beloved paintings. I follow so many kinds of blogs, from other art blogs, to fashion, cooking, health, gossip, news, and personal blogs. The kind that capture my heart are always the personal blogs. They keep me returning to hear how someones life develops, how their projects have panned out and this makes me see the connection between them and the work they are doing. I look out for their next update and I think it is a wonderful thing that people can share their life and what they love to do, with others who feel the same. I have recently fully set up my own personal website that serves as an online portfolio for my paintings. But the community I have noticed on wordpress is a friendly and responsive one that has already helped me better my paintings and gain new subjects to work with. This is me! Smiling lots because of all of the wonderful support I have received for my art work in this new year! My hardest work began January 1st 2013 as I am trying to create more artwork and get it seen. I have taken the opportunity of a new year and a new start with conviction and determination. I worked hard to create a foundation and a body of work that I could stand in securely and build skywards. January has gone well so far and the response to my work has been heart warming. Especially the messages I have had on the video I made recently of myself painting to show the painting process. My business cards arrived and I am happy and excited to start using them! Katy x
I have had a leave of absence from creating any paintings or pieces, as well as having a long time away from this blog. I am however back in full force with to-do lists raging and armed with many genres (painting, drawings, photography, tattooing) to get stuck into. After being away from my work for a while I have had so many new ideas written down that I can’t wait to get started on, however I’m mostly excited about using the Internet to its full potential. To communicate with other artists and the rest of the world, join the many art communities and forums and get involved! If anyone has any tips or can help a technospaz like myself it would be greatly appreciated! For now, I cannot separate my desires to explore all the genres of art that I am dipping my toes into, so I will have to juggle them all! Personal challenge accepted.
